Gold Bakery Cake Pop-up

For one day only, Gold Bakery will be selling dainty slices of its dark poppy cake with roasted rhubarb and rhubarb icing — a delicious pairing with our coffee. Slices will be available until they sell out; or, pre-order a 6" cake ($30) by contacting the bakery. Venmo, Paypal, cash, or card are all accepted upon pick up.

Our lovely friend and neighbor Kermit Lynch is celebrating its 45th year of business with an afternoon party in the parking lot. Curt Clingman and crew will be grilling oysters and sausages, and we'll be hosting the wine tent, uncorking some beautiful, fun bottles, and toasting another year of Kermit Lynch on the planet.

[Note: we'll be open that day with a small menu of coffee, pastries, and cookies. Come to the party! It will be fun.]

As we all adjust to the current “reality” in the country, we’ve been trying to stay connected and active without losing our bearings. At Bartavelle we are lucky in so many ways—we have a great crew of people who all love each other, and we have a bunch of wonderful humans to connect with every day—that’s right, YOU.
 
One way to move forward with love and intention is to give back when you can, which we are doing with a monthly action. For the month of February, we’re donating $1 to the ACLU for every Persian Breakfast sold, to help support their fight for justice for all.
 
Our Persian Breakfast is organic lebneh, creamy French feta, Persian cucumbers, fresh herbs, olive oil, house za’atar and house made fig jam. Served with warm pizza bianca from Acme Bread (OK, poetic license here, but it really works, trust us).
 
In addition, our sweet crew of baristas and cooks has gotten together and decided to do their own action: Cash tips on weekends in February will be donated to Centro Legal de la Raza. This past weekend people were very generous, and we all feel the love.

Za'atar and Marash Pepper For Home

We now have Marash pepper and our house blend za'atar available for you to take home!

Marash pepper, from Turkey, is one of our favorite things, adding magic pretty much wherever you want to use it. We love it on avocados and eggs, of course, but it's wonderful just about anywhere. $7 for a 3 oz. jar.

Our za'atar is made with dried thyme, sumac, roasted sesame seeds and Maldon salt. It's an important ingredient in our Persian breakfast, and you'll find lots of other uses. Salad dressings, yogurt, meat and fish. Tell us how you use it! $8 for a 4 oz. jar.

Bud Friendday: Pop-Up Dinner & Goods Drive For Standing Rock

Do Black Friday differently this year. Join Victory Kitchen for a community dinner and collection drive for folks at Standing Rock.

Come to the Bartavelle Annex, just next door to the cafe. We'll be there collection donations from 12-6 and serving supper 4-6.

DONATIONS (12 - 6 PM)
We'll be collecting blankets, firewood, propane, nonperishable foods, gift cards, cash (to convert into gift cards), and much more to support the Water Protectors at Standing Rock. Our pal Emmy Acorn will deliver all goods and supplies in December. See the full list of suggested items here.

SUPPER TIME (4 - 6 PM)
We'll have a delicious, beautiful, homemade vegetable soup available for a $5-10 suggested donation (profit goes to Standing Rock). Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. Also, feel free to bring your Thanksgiving leftovers or a potluck dish to share!!!
